It’s that sneezy, breezy, deep-freezy time of year again when Montreal laughs in the face of deep winter and unleashes the High Lights festival.
From February 21 to March 3 (excluding Feb. 25, 26 & 27), the Place des Spectacles in the heart of downtown hosts a wide variety of free and paid fun and frivolity to help us all forget sidewalk-shoveling, battery-boosts and 4PM sundown.
Free activities this year include perennial favourites like the Family Fun Zone ice slide and giant parlour games, the Ferris Wheel, music and dance, and entertaining light displays. New this year are “interactive balloons” (?), and a giant family photo event where everyone gathers together with hand-held sparklers for a great big group shot (Saturday, Feb. 23 at 7:30 PM).
The festival wraps up in grand style with the Nuit Blanche on the evening of March 2 into the morning of March 3.
