• GUEPE Nature Outings

    ON MAY 12 TO 14 – This weekend, the fine folks at GUEPE (Groupe uni des éducateurs et professionels en environnement) want you to join them to learn about nature. Activities may be held in French.

    Friday – “Frog Song”

    Free activity for all. 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm, Parc-nature du Bois-de-Liesse, 1 avenue Oakridge, Montreal, H4K 2C5.

    Registration required.

    When spring arrives, the frogs come out of a long torpor and begin their season of love. Their songs then resound throughout the swamp. A GUEPE educator-naturalist will accompany you throughout the activity to learn more about the frogs of Quebec and their song. This two-hour activity includes a presentation and an in-kind hike. You will be able to hear and recognize, at nightfall, the frogs that sing to you!

    Saturday – “Spring Interpretation Hike”

    Free activity for all. 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm, Parc-nature du Cap Saint-Jacques, 20099 boulevard Gouin Ouest, Montréal, H9K 1C1

    GUEPE invites you to a guided hike in the forest of the magnificent Cap Saint-Jacques Nature Park on the shore of Lake Deux-Montagnes. A naturalist educator will talk about the turtles living in this lake, the spring blossoms of the undergrowth, the trees in this forest, and invasive species that threaten biodiversity.

    Meet the trails in the Beach area.

    Saturday – “Question of fishing!”

    Free activity for all. 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm, Parc-nature de l’Île-de-la-Visitation, 2425 boulevard Gouin Est, Montréal, H2B 1X7

    The Prairie River is full of life and many anglers benefit! Discover at the GUEPE kiosk, the fish living in this river, the characteristics of their habitat, their predators, their conservation status and their anatomy. Meet our educator-naturalist to learn more about good fishing practices and responsible fishing, in harmony with the environment.

    Rendez-vous near the fishing site (east of the park).

    GUEPE invites you to discover the insect biodiversity of Cap Saint-Jacques! Insects are paramount to pollination and the health of agriculture. Discover these small living things that allow you to eat various vegetables and fruits!

    Meet near the general store in the ecological farm area.
