Marijke Vroomen-Durning started her professional career as a registered nurse and gradually moved into health and medical writing. She loves (just about) every minute of her freelance life but is also always looking for new things to do. She has had work published in magazines, text books, and on websites.
When the idea for citiesonthecheap.com came about, Marijke did what she almost always does: she jumped in feet first. As a life-long resident of Montreal and having raised her three children there, with the help of her husband who is also a life-long Montrealer, she decided that this was a much needed project for the Montreal area.
We welcome any and all suggestions for inexpensive activities in Montreal, so if you have something to share, please send an email to Marijke/Montreal On The Cheap.
Although Marijke writes mostly health and medical information, she does write in other areas from time to time. Most recently, one of her essays was chosen for inclusion in an essay anthology called Fits, Start & Matters of the Heart.
If you’d like to learn more about Marijke, including how to say her name, her website Medhealthwriter.com describes her professional work.
She is currently very involved in her role as content coordinator/manager for Sepsis Alliance, a patient advocacy group working to raise awareness of sepsis and its deadly consequences. This is in addition to her freelance work, but keeping busy is what she does best.
