naturedaysA weekend of free outdoor activities open to all taking place across the province of Quebec, 38 in the Montreal area alone! Please consult our website for the program (online as of mid-April).

This initiative was launched by the David Suzuki Foundation in order to facilitate greater contact with nature and to encourage people to spend more time outdoors. Quebeckers are increasingly spend less and less time in contact with nature. This “nature deficit” could have a major and negative impact on our health and well-being according to research demonstrating the links between contact with nature and the physical and mental health.

What better reason to get outside and try one of the activities programmed for this weekend, May 22 – 24, 2015?

“Museums galore – and they’re all free, for just one day!

Montréal Museums Day is the Board’s biggest event, an essential annual celebration for thousands of Montrealers and for tourists, as well.”

This Sunday, May 24, from 9 AM to 6 PM, the STM and 34 Montreal museums invite everyone out to explore what the museums have to offer. This one-day, annual event allows access and bus transportation to explore art, science, architecture, nature, archaeology and history.

Five free bus routes laid out by the STM especially for the event will take visitors between the 34 participating museums. Admission is free of charge all day long, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., depending on the museums’ hours.

In addition to the permanent and temporary exhibitions at different museums, there will be all sorts of
educational and cultural activities, both indoors and out, sure to delight all ages: guided tours of gardens, art workshops, sky gazing, archaeological digs and more.

New participants for 2015

The Printing Museum
Learn about the history of printing in Québec at the oldest Montréal printing plant still in operation. Located in the historic Lovell Litho & Publications building, in the heart of Old Montréal, the printing museum celebrates the work of local printers ever since the first printing press arrived in Montréal in 1764.

Guild of Crafts
The Guild houses one of Canada’s most impressive permanent collections of Inuit and First Nations art from 1900 to the present. Join Diana Perera, an expert on Inuit and First Nations art, for a fascinating introduction to the artwork and crafts on display.

Expect long lines of up to an hour at many of the destinations, so plan ahead. Bring snacks and amusements for time spent in line-ups, and plan your itinerary in advance to minimize delays.

chocfestbannerChocolate is an excellent excuse to party. We have enjoyed it since our childhood. It accompanies us throughout the year: in birthday cakes, as truffles at Christmas, roosters and rabbits at Easter and as an essential element at Valentines. Chocolate also represents a moment of relaxation that we offer ourselves, consoling little miseries, and sometimes giving us just the right boost of energy to accomplish our daily tasks or our great achievements.

For its 15th edition, the Bromont Chocolate Festival invites you to the heart of the Old Town to discover chocolate in all its aspects, sometimes traditional, sometimes playful. There will be theater, music, painting, wrapping and tastings. Chocolate will fill all your senses with its exquisite fragrance, the beauty, the sounds, the soft feel to the touch and above all the joy it brings to your taste buds!

Free for visitors under 8, and $8 for everyone else.

The 16, 17, 18, 23 and 24 May, 2015
