The CCA (Canadian Center for Architecture) offers this free creative workshop on Sunday February 8 & 22, as well as March 8 & 22.

How does lighting affect the way we inhabit our homes? Inspired by architect Umberto Riva’s preoccupation with designing every detail of the spaces he creates, including lamps, we invite families to experiment with shaping the objects that illuminate our everyday lives. Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Rooms You May Have Missed: Bijoy Jain, Umberto Riva.

The workshop runs from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM and is free to attend. The CCA is at 1920 rue Baile, between Guy & Atwater metro.

Reserve a place for you and your family at 514 939 7026.

Please give us 24 hours notice if you need to cancel so that we can fill your spot. Given the high demand for our programs, families that are no-shows for their reservations will only be waitlisted for future programs.

Have you ever heard boats and ships taking part in a symphony? If not, you’re in for a treat if you visit the Old Port of Montreal to listen to trains, tugboats, boats moored in the Old Port for the winter, and other urban instruments, unite their musical sounds to create an original work of the most unusual kind.

This year, with Greece as the focus of this 21st edition of the Symphonies, Québec composer Philippe Lauzier was inspired by Euripides’ work “Orestes.” From this work, a 35-note melody on ragged papyrus has withstood the test of time. Supporting the sounds of the symphony will be a brass and percussion ensemble, which will also perform an overture, based on this ancient melody dating back to the days of Alexander the Great.
