What might be the creepiest annual event in Montreal, the Zombie Walk. Having tripled in size to reach 10,000 participants in 2013, the most popular event of the undead is back! Come already risen from the grave, or have on-site make-up artists zombify you for $15.

Info on the 2014 event follows:

Start Time:
Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 12:00pm (departure at 3:00pm)
End Time: Saturday, October 25, 2014 at about 5:30pm (or much later for those attending the after party at Foufounes Électriques, 18+)
Location: Place des Festivals du Quartier des spectacles, (métro Place-des-Arts) then winding through downtown Montreal. START: Place des festivals – De Maisonneuve/ Bleury, West on Maisonneuve boul., South on McGill College ave., East on Sainte-Catherine st, END: Place des festivals.
Info:http://montrealzombiewalk.com/en/

In addition to makeup and photo booths as well as entertainment and costume shops on site, we are pleased to welcome this year’s workshop, ‘CPR makes you undead’, set up in collaboration with the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Our zombies have expressed the need to resolve the thorny problems of humans who end up dying of fright before being zombified – learn how to revive them in order to freshen up your meal.

What is a Zombie Walk?
A zombie walk is an organized public gathering of people who dress up in zombie costumes and make up. Usually taking place in an urban centre, the participants make their way around the city streets and through shopping malls in a somewhat orderly fashion and often limping and gnawing their way along.

During the event participants are encouraged to remain in character as zombies and to communicate only in a manner consistent with zombies (such as grunts, groans and slurred moans calling for “brains”.)

Can we bring kids?
A: Everybody is welcome, although remember that some kids could be scared as they might not share the same taste for zombies as you do.

Once every month (or so), the smart McGill University scientists host an informal “Freaky Friday” at the Redpath Museum on campus. These free, public lectures explore the myths surrounding today’s science news topics and bust them with reality and fact.

Keeping things fun and light,  the lectures are typically followed by a popular film which is in some way related to the topic of the evening.

This Friday, October 17, the topic is “Molecules and Broadway Musicals” – how chemistry and music intersect and how some music is considered to be directly influenced by molecular energy.

The lecture begins at 5pm, and will be followed by the Broadway musical Phantom of the Opera. From experience, we recommend these events as being for 12 years and up.

The Redpath Museum is located at:
859 Sherbrooke Street W
Metro McGill/Peel
